I have worked for over 10 years as a researcher with the Research Centre for Museums and Galleries (RCMG), based in the School of Museum Studies at the University of Leicester. Our research focuses on the social role of museums and cultural organisations, with themes including education and access, visitors' communication and interpretive strategies, learning outcomes and processes, and the potential for museums to engage with contemporary social issues, such as the representation of disabled people.

I am passionate about history and how people connect to the past, and have a personal interest in the role of living history and museum theatre in contributing to how the general public thinks about the past. I completed a PhD in 2011 which looked at the impact of living history performances on the historical understanding of young people. I am very interested in carrying out research with audiences of living history performances, as well as general visitors to museums and historic sites, so please get in touch if you have a similar interest and would like to do some research in this area!
